You may need to replace it if it is starting to look worn out.
If you are unsure when you purchased your helmet, check underneath and there should be a creation date for when the helmet was made. You will want to make sure you do not wear a helmet that is more than five years old.
Donning a helmet while riding is an assurance that you will most likely be safe from a life-threatening head injury. There are examples of people hitting their heads on a counter or floor and dying. When you fall off of a horse, the impact is worse.
If Your Horse Sustains an injury
If your horse sustains an injury while riding, don’t panic. Clear thinking ability is very important. If you are in a safe place, you will need to can a veterinarian right away. If you are not in a safe place move the horse to one if possible. Assess the injury and look for broken bones, puncture wounds, cuts, or heavy bleeding. If you see any of these, call a vet immediately.
The vet will have necessary horse hock wraps, horse knee braces and other horse wraps to help assist in getting your horse stable. Having a horse emergency is not something a rider looks forward to. Because a rider wears a riding helmet, they may be able to save their horse’s life.
